The Spanish Senate has paved the way for a modification of tax laws that will allow Benidorm to be considered a “tourist municipality”.
A town with over 20,000 population and more tourist homes and second residences, qualifies to become a “tourist municipality” – which allows local shops and businesses to have a greater flexibility in shop opening hours.
There are currently 21 localities in Spain which have the distinction of “tourist municipality”.
